Kites alone are only half of the fun:
on top of them there are kite bags, flags, anchors . . .
these are not just decorative trimmings, but naturally have their function and in a lull the sight of it can be somewhat comforting

the flags show the wind direction, mark out the area and under some circumstances can prevent people from running into lines or bumping into things
it is also pleasant that they do not make a noise, as they are made of cotton
(the usual spinnaker nylon is terribly noisy)
